"Loyalty, Protection,
Service"
FRA Branch 101 is a proud association of Former,
Retired and Active members of the United States Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast
Guard.
Branch 101 seeks new Shipmates who wish to continue giving
of themselves to their community and country. It is in giving
of our time, effort, and imagination that we make the Santa Clara
valley and surrounding communities a better and safer place for our
fellow citizens.
This website is our "banner on a hilltop" and serves as a
Historical Monument to our proud past, a Town Crier for our members'
efforts in the present, and a Pied Piper to rally future
Shipmates for a noble service to our community.
Branch 101 was
chartered on 30 January 1947 (first president CM Burrell), to
support the Sailors, Marines, and Guardsmen of the southern
communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, specifically focused at Moffett Field, formerly known as
NAS
Moffett Field. Today, our proud members associate
to share up-to-date information & status
of healthcare and retirement benefits, on the readiness of
our career service members, on local community support services for
our Shipmates, and on the monetary needs of the local charities our
branch supports.

About the
Fleet Reserve Association
The FRA was
formed in 1924 in Philadelphia, by Chief Yeoman George L. Carlin,
USN (Ret.), a Sailor concerned about protecting the pay and benefits
of enlisted Sailors. Carlin's vision to promote mutual loyalty,
protection and service among Sea Service personnel is still evident
in the FRA today.
FRA was formed:
- to uphold the traditions of the Navy,
Marine Corps and Coast Guard,
- to aid in maintaining adequate defense
of the United States, and
- to assist in obtaining the best type
of personnel for our Sea Services.
FRA pursues these goals
by:
- keeping members informed on Service
matters,
- honoring the memory of departed
Shipmates, and
- maintaining an interest in those who
served and are now serving.
FRA remains the oldest and largest
professional military association, exclusively serving and
representing the men and women of the three Sea Services. It
continues to seek protection and equity for those who serve in, or
have retired from, the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard. The
Association has demonstrated its tenacity in pursuing congressional
support for enlisted quality of life and veterans' programs for more
than 80 years.

Our most active
members provide valuable support services too. Branch 101
representatives:
Branch 101 provides a valuable
outlet for citizens to give back to local charitable
organizations, in the form of weekly Bingo games (a win-win
for Santa Clara County and the FRA). Over 90% of the
proceeds (exceeding $20,000 annually) is donated to major
groups like American Red Cross, VA Palo Alto, and USO, among a long
list of deserving recipients.
Branch 101 aggressively participates in the FRA
Americanism Essay Contest. This year, the
national grand prize is a $15,000 US Savings Bond for the best 350
word essay on "What the United States Flag Stands For" (see rules at the
Essay Contest link). We believe
"Loyalty, Protection, and Service" begins with our youth.
